Cooling the
next generation
of technology.
FL01 develops AI-controlled self-driving lab platforms that test and discover next-generation thermal fluids 100 times faster than traditional methods. From battery packs to data centres — we accelerate the discovery of coolants for the technologies that power modern life.
Born in the lab. Built for industry.
FL01 was founded in November 2025 as a spinout from the Sinton Lab at the University of Toronto — commercializing research that began in 2022. The company develops self-driving lab (SDL) technology that uses robotics, automation, and AI to accelerate the discovery of thermal fluids.
Traditional methods for developing new cooling fluids can take 5 to 10 years. FL01's patented sensor technology and AI-driven platform reduce that timeline to weeks — testing potential fluids 100 times faster and generating unprecedented volumes of data. One device can produce 10,000 data points in two months, compared to 4,000 data points collected over the last century.
Self-driving labs for thermal discovery.
Four core capabilities that turn years of R&D into weeks.
Patented Sensor Technology
Custom sensors measure the thermophysical properties of fluids — thermal conductivity, heat capacity, viscosity — at speeds previously impossible.
AI-Controlled SDL Platform
A fully automated self-driving lab integrates robotics, automation, and machine learning to run experiments continuously — no manual testing required.
High-Throughput Testing
The platform navigates complex formulation spaces that traditional methods cannot efficiently explore, testing thousands of combinations.
Data as a Product
The volume of thermal fluid data FL01 generates is unprecedented — creating a proprietary dataset that accelerates discovery for years to come.
Where thermal fluids matter most.
As processing power grows, so does the heat. FL01's coolants target the industries that need them most.
Battery Packs
Precise thermal management for EV batteries and energy storage systems — improving safety, lifespan, and performance.
High-Power Electronics
Cooling solutions for the chips and systems that power AI, gaming, and advanced computing.
Data Centres
Immersion cooling and precision cooling fluids for data centres handling ever-increasing workloads.
Energy & Industrial
Thermal fluids for industrial processes across energy, transportation, and manufacturing sectors.
